Puppy Obedience Classes

Puppies learn well and retain what they learn, so there is no better time to start training! Puppies aren't blank slates, but they are wonderfully willing to learn and eager to conform to the society of their "human pack"-- if only someone explains to them how to do this. Puppies should be between 4 and 12 months of age to participate in this series of classes.
Here are some the valuable things a puppy learns in Puppy Class:

  • It may be more dominant than some puppies but less dominant than others.
  • Rough play may be interrupted.
  • Going to its owner is a happy act that gets a reward.
  • Other dogs are fun.
  • Waiting is hard, but it gets rewarded.
  • Greeting properly keeps everyone happy.

Obedience classes are great way to build at strong relationship of trust and respect with your puppy. Some of the commands your puppy will learn include Sit, Settle (stay quietly beside you without jumping, whining or pulling), Let's Go (controlled walk on a leash), Down, Come and Stay. We also address common concerns like excessive barking, jumping up, separation anxiety, biting, house training and excessive chewing. Socialization is also an important part of each Puppy Class.
Puppy Basic Obedience Classes are comprised of one-hour lessons once a week for 5 weeks. They take place at Paws, Claws, Feathers & Fins at the Doggie Daycare Center.
